Our Story.
Ashley loves Jesus! She’a preacher’s kid, a worship leader, and a gifted Bible teacher. So she knows what ministry life looks like…a lot! She is now General Manager for a franchise of women’s fitness boutiques. She loves that — a LOT — but truly can’t wait to start a family.
Brent has been a pastor for over 27 years. He once spoke at a church youth camp where Ashley was a teenager. Yep, he is ten years older than her (that’s why he has some gray hair and she does not). They knew of each other, but didn’t have any kind of relationship then. Ashley’s father, Gary, was the pastor of Brent’s home church in Ft Worth, Texas. So, when Brent was a youth pastor, the church where he was serving sent him to be ordained for ministry at his home church.
Brent was previously married for 10 years, but they didn’t have children. That very privately and secretly made Brent sad, but he was mostly content with life then. Several years later he was pastoring a church in Dallas, and his then wife told him she didn’t want to be married any longer. Brent was crushed by the experience, and wondered if God was finished with him as a pastor.
Ashley’s father Gary was a great encourager to Brent. He had coffees with Brent and challenged him to keep going and wait for the Lord. Brent had seen the then adult Ashley on Gary’s Facebook page, and knew she was beautiful and loved the Lord. So one day after coffee, Brent had the courage to send Gary a text and say, “Hey, if Ashley isn’t seeing anyone, you should put in a good word for me.”
** Crickets **
No response! So a week later Brent text Gary and said, “Hey I hope I didn’t cross the line asking about Ashley.” Gary said, “No, I just wanted to ask her what she thought first.” Then Gary gave Brent the news of the day, “You should ask her to coffee.”
He did. Eleven dates in the first two weeks and they were both hooked!
They are a good team, love others compassionately, fight for justice, and belly laugh often! It’s usually Ashley catching Brent off guard that starts the cycle of uncontrollable laughter, They have learned to defend each other, stand together, serve each other and serve others together. It’s a pretty awesome way to live and they believe theirs will be a wonderful home for a child entrusted to them.
A few years after they got married, they began the conversation of starting a family. They dreamed about having their own biological children one day, but in 2019, they discovered some medical issues that meant they had a zero percent chance of getting pregnant. But God was not finished writing that story. And that’s why you are here.

Meet Ashley
Hi! I’m Ashley and I love to laugh, am passionate about fighting for the underdog, and while I love spending time with my friends and family, I am mostly a homebody.
Growing up a preacher’s kid in a Christian home, I was taught to love God with all my heart, soul, and mind. This really took flight for me when I went to college. I love Jesus with all my heart and love to sing. I fell in love with singing at a young age and was even classically trained, but leading worship at our local church is more my passion.
I studied Communications and spent many years in the marketing world, but most recently became a General Manager for several boutique fitness studios, and I love it. I am also grateful to work for a boss who is very supportive of us growing our family. People are my passion and I love to help people succeed in their gifts/talents.
Meet Brent
Hi, I’m Brent, and I love to live life to the fullest. I love traveling, all kinds of music, sports, and finding new restaurants.
But none of that matters most to me. My first and forever love is Jesus Christ. He saved me from my stupid ways, and made me the man I am today. I would be so empty and lost without the precious love of God at the center of my life. And that is why I cherish the great call of God in my life to serve him and the Church with joy.
I genuinely thought I would never raise any children. Our Heavenly Father, Ashley and this life-changing process are making that possibility a reality. I am humbled to share my story and eager to share this life experience with you. Thank you so very much.
